VBS Publishing was discovered by ESSENCE Magazine’s Best Selling Author, Valencia R. Williams, named after her and two children, Beonka and Sam.

Valencia pursued the book industry to develop an outlet for those who thrived to be writers and authors.

Valencia’s passion for writing has able her to teach a writer’s book course which will in essence influence authors to expose their creative talents and explore their vivid imaginations to feed this malnourished industry.

Valencia says in her first book, “The Hottest Summer Ever Known, she thought the content was a little too extreme for her audience at first. But, as she continued to travel to many high schools, seminars and other venues, Valencia discovered that there are no rules in this game as a self-publisher.

“Just write it and leave the rest to the editors and content reading team to polish it.”  She says.

Valencia found that what makes writing a book difficult is thinking too hard and trying to follow formatting rules, but with her new Writer’s Class and VBS Book Designing Packages, her company has paved a way for procrastinators to stop procrastinating by offering a 10 Week course that will assist one with completing their book.

The 10 Week Book Writing Course is constructed to keep ones interest while respecting ones effort.

“I am one to be easily discouraged and that is not a good thing. Writing my first book was not an easy journey, but when I finally completed it, I felt relieved. I was ready for the next one! The second one went smoothly. I wrote that puppy in 30 days. This is where I discovered what took me so long with my first.”

Valencia has her own way of expressing her characters.

“You have to have the ability to jump into different minds and become someone else when establishing your character. In my first, I was trying so hard to be someone else, which made it difficult to build my character. In my second book, I taught myself patience and in each story I was able to conquer the fear of being noticeable. You see, a good actor can jump in to many characters because they have the skill, confidence and patience to know that in acting you have to have a natural effect on your audience in order for one not to be able distinguish your acting. Your audience needs to be able to relate to your character.”

Valencia found that many procrastinators procrastinate from becoming discouraged. Writer’s get the feeling that what their writing doesn’t feel right, which will in turn bore them, forcing them to stop and find something less stressful to do. In some books and writers programs, following the author’s format can also be discouraging. Like Valencia express, it can place you in a mindset of someone trying to loose weight by following diet.

 “For example, I am over weight and one of the many reasons why I don’t want a personal trainer is because they work the mess out of me on the first day which is discouraging. This militant structure forces me to not return. This is why I follow a different “workout” writing method in my course. When you attend the first day of my class, it is my duty to go easy on you and to keep you encouraged and motivated enough to want to make it to the finish line. So, to my writers, we are in this together and I will not finish this race without you. Now let’s write that book and make it the next best seller!”
